2022 Sandusky Donut Fest

Saturday, October 15th, almost 250 racers, and donut eaters braved the cold for the First Annual Sandusky Donut Fest! Lots of donuts were eaten, and beer was tasted at the Jackson Street Pier in downtown Sandusky.

Racers joined us on the pier where they sampled from five breweries and six donut shops and then voted for the People’s Choice Awards.

The People’s Choice Award for Best Donut went to C&C Donut Factory! Their fried-up donut holes were a crowd favorite. And then the People’s Choice Award for Best Beer went to Baithouse Brewery!

To start out our donut contests, local police were handcuffed together as they raced back and forth across the green to get the most donuts in their bucket. We had a surprising winner of the group…our retiree’s bracket! Tracey Susanna and Kevin Youskievicz from Sandusky Police won the 6IB championship belt.

Then we watched as amateurs and professionals ate an outrageous amount of glazed, sprinkled, frosted, and filled Dunkin Donuts in under 8 minutes.

In the Amateur Division of our Donut Eating Contests we had winner Eli Lessig who ate a surprising 19 donuts and second place, Christian Statler. For 3rd Place, we had a tie between Nathan Richardson and John Bossart! After running a tie-breaker round, Nathan Richardson won third place!

In the Professional Division Dan “killer” Kennedy ate 59 donuts, with Molly Schuler in Second and Andrew Puhl in 3rd.

After our 2019 0.5K, and 2021 Donut Eating Contest, we were glad to be able to put on the first annual Donut Fest! We could not have done any of this without the tireless work of our Donut Fest Committee, volunteers, and sponsors.

We especially could not have had this without Jerod Blakely, our previous Board President. His planning led to the creation of the Sandusky Donut Fest which we hope to see for many more years. Thank you to all who support and attend this event, we hope to see you all next year!
