Summer Youth Work Experience

Join us for a summer program full of hands-on experiences. This 5-week program will allow you to build on your work readiness skills and will also give you the opportunity to make some money this summer. We have a variety of different works sites in Sandusky, Lorain, and Erie County. Most work times are Monday through Wednesday, times vary depending on the site.

Sandusky County

Sandusky County Dog Kennel

At the Sandusky County Dog Kennel, there are dozens of dogs are waiting for your love and help. You will assist in feeding, grooming, and cleaning the animals and their spaces so they have everything they need to help them find forever homes!

Millers

Is an indoor setting more your style? Do you enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy store? Then Miller’s Super Value in Clyde is the site for you! At Miller’s, you will assist with stocking shelves, organizing displays, disinfecting high-traffic areas, and completing general cleaning tasks to help Miller’s continue to serve their customers in a sparkling and tidy store!

Share and Care

At the Sandusky County Share and Care, you will assist in day-to-day operations, such as sorting donations, helping customers, and keeping the store nice and tidy so that customers can shop and find their own hidden treasure!

Erie County

Back to the Wild

At Back to the Wild- Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Castalia, you will increase your knowledge of wildlife by helping to maintain the cleanliness of animal habitats, assisting in feeding, and ensuring a safe environment for all animals that are in need of care and rehabilitation so that one day they may go “Back to the Wild”!

Boots to Grasses

Get hands-on experiences working with horses! At Boots to Grasses Therapeutic Horsemanship Program, you will expand your knowledge on the care of horses from safety to feeding, to brushing and bathing. This family-friendly environment is a great site for anyone who enjoys working outdoors.

Erie County Dog Kennel

Are you an animal lover? Would you like to gain experience working directly with dogs? If so, this site is perfect for you! At the Erie County Dog Kennel, in Sandusky, you will increase your knowledge on all aspects related to dog care and assist your furry friends in finding their fur-ever home.

Huron County

The Salvation Army

Do you enjoy working with children? At the Salvation Army you will work hands-on with the children during their summer food program while engaging in multiple duties such as recreational activities, kitchen tasks, serving, and more!

Millers Market

Miller’s Market in Norwalk is looking for help this summer! At Miller’s, you will help to stock shelves, organize displays, assist with pick-up orders, and perform general cleaning tasks so that Miller’s can continue to serve their shoppers in a clean and tidy store!

Lorain County

YMCA

At the French Creek YMCA in Avon, you will assist staff with maintaining a clean, fun, and safe facility for families to enjoy by helping to disinfect common areas, tidy up locker rooms and event areas, pick up litter from the grounds, among other needed cleaning tasks!

The Salvation Army

Do you like working on crafts, games, and working with children? The Salvation Army of Elyria is looking for students to assist them with their Summer Camp program

Lakeview Park

Lorain Metro Parks needs your help to keep Lakeview Park beautiful this summer! At Lakeview Park, you will assist with maintaining rose gardens, combing the beach for litter, cleaning and sanitizing park facilities, and painting shelters to make Lakeview Park an ideal summer destination!

APL

The furry residents at the Friendship Animal Protective League in Amherst need you! At the Friendship APL, you will help to feed and water the animals, clean out kennels, wash bedding, and assist with general cleaning so that our four-legged friends are comfortable, happy, and ready to find their fur-ever home!
